According to reports, fans eager to see the stars up close created a stampede-like situation, prompting the police to resort to a mild lathi charge to restore order. Some attendees, in defiance, threw slippers and objects at security personnel when prevented from approaching the stage or climbing scaffolding for a better view.
News agency ANI highlighted that despite the chaos, police officials maintained that the situation was manageable. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rajeev Mishra assured that only a small group of fans attempting to breach barricades were removed. “An adequate number of security personnel were deployed at Gandhi Maidan,” he stated.
