Hyderabad, April 10, 2024: In a decisive move against illegal online cricket betting, the Cyberabad Special Operations Team (SOT), in collaboration with the RC Puram police, has apprehended multiple suspects and seized assets worth Rs 37 lakh.

Key Arrests and Seizures

The operation led to the apprehension of a prominent online cricket betting bookie, Ramakrishna Goud, his accomplice and brother, Upender Goud, along with two punters. The duo, operating under the guise of a website named www.nice7777.pro, facilitated bets for ongoing IPL matches, thus orchestrating a sophisticated betting network.

Modus Operandi Unveiled

Ramakrishna and Upender Goud employed a meticulously planned modus operandi. Through their website, they enticed punters to place bets on IPL matches. The collection of funds, whether through UPI transactions or cash, for each match, underscored the extent of their illegal operations.

Police Action

Acting on credible intelligence, law enforcement officers intercepted the illicit activities just in time for Sunday’s matches. Ramakrishna Goud and two punters were swiftly apprehended, followed by the subsequent capture of Upender Goud, who was found in possession of Rs 18.50 lakh in cash. Additionally, the police managed to seize Rs 18.37 lakh, the proceeds collected from punters by the brothers.

Legal Measures

In a bid to curtail further illegal activities, the authorities have frozen the bank accounts associated with online betting. This proactive measure aims to disrupt the financial infrastructure supporting such illicit operations.
